Around Uttarakhand while I was travelling once, on same route, some one asked me if I want to eat some delicious apple. I was surprised they didnt know english but they knew the word 'delicious'. Later I came to know that the name of the variety growing in the area especially around Nainital is called DELICIOUS. May be this is the same variety. Pankaj
