Yes this aspect needs some investigation. Caltha palustris var. palustris the typical yellow form does not occur in India. It differs from var. himalaica Tamura of Himalayas as under
Var. himalaica: stems solid, style 2-3 mm long var. palustris: stems hollow, style 1-1.5 mm long I wonder whether var. himalaica Tamura (1962) or var. himalensis (D Don) Mukh. (1960) are same, but then I am not sure why former is treated as correct name by the Plant list, and latter if different (because it is not listed as synonym of former) what are its attributes. -- Dr. Gurcharan Singh Retired Associate Professor SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007 Res: 932 Anand Kunj, Vikas Puri, New Delhi-110018.
