Very simple answer: because the plants grow among grasses and it needs the flower to be visible to to possible pollinators hence it needs to raise the flowers above grass height. Secondly, do you think if the flowers are close to the dangerous glands then insect will be able to pollinate before getting trapped? THINKKKKKKKK ! :) Just kidding. Pankaj
