Dear All

Two days before, I received the Flowers of Sahyadri by Mr. Shrikant
Ingalhalikar. I was stunned to see the quality of Book. From the first look
it looks so beautiful in outlook that my curiosity to go through the book
became more. I was also having its previous version and improvement in the
present version is excellent. Addition of 100 more plants have made this
book more informative. The more than excellent picture and paper quality of
this book make more attractive. The best thing I could make out from this
book is the addition of latest nomenclature as per latest APG system of
classification. Addition of varieties and subspecies is another peculiar
feature in present edition. The navigation for identification
(Habit>Colour>Size) is unique and it is pretty thing in the book. Although
the name of the book is Flowers of Sahyadri but 600 species in this book do
not belong only to Sahyadri. More than 80% species are found in areas
away from Sahyadri. So this book can be a useful resource for readers from
all corners of India.

I was also very happy to see the key for 35 main families in
book which are in tabular form. Pictorial information about leaf types and
inflorescence make this book more users friendly and Glossary in the
beginning of the book is another feather in the cap of this book. Brief
introduction about the classification of plant kingdom is very informative
and can be easily understood by layman. Information about the study area
and maps in the book are also nicely presented. I also must add here that
to make these type of field guides, picture of leaves should also be
accommodated if not full size, than in Inset insertion within the images of
flowers. Moreover by giving two plants per page we may add more pics and
information. This however will make this Field Guide bulky but more useful.
Otherwise two different edition may be printed one small field guide type
and another full floristic analysis issue.

Overall I may say that Mr. Shrikant Ingalhalikar has done a superb job. I
hope rather certain that this book will be a nice collection for the nature
lovers and informative guide for the keen flower hunters.

Many Many Congratulations Shrikant ji for this nice Job

Thanks
