Very well written Neha ji
"And the best thing is dat none of us are/ would be contributing here as
their duty but all as our passion."
I have often been wondering why all of us love interacting on this group.
Perhaps the best reason is that the Group is a mix of people from different
works of life who share the common passion of photography and love for
plants. And most important the experts on the group (luckily they don't
themselves claim to be experts, others think they are so) are totally free
of any egos, so that they won't hesitate to suggest a wildest guess, not
the least bothered that it may wrong. That sets the ball rolling for
achieving the correct identification in minimum possible time. Equally
important is the fact that several members on the Group (I would specially
name Tabish ji and Pankaj ji, and wish more people to follow them) don't
simply accept an identification because it has come from an expert. They
would contest it with valid evidence, if they have even a slight doubt.
That ensures that in great majority of cases no wrong identification stays
for long, and we continue to correct identifications both on Flowers of
India and our Group here. We are lucky to have our new experts Dr.
Umeshkumar Tiwari and Dr. Manoj Chandran, who provide very useful inputs in
a way it appears they have been with us for many years. This culture of
cordiality keeps the group as harmonious unit, where we enjoy to interact.
Valley of Flowers episode has given a new life to the group, and we
may have some more such episodes in future. This episode has also made it
clear that Dinesh ji and Prashant ji are not experts of Western Ghats only.
They are added as our Himalayan also. Prashant ji also has a good
collection from Ladakh, an area which I have been planning to visit, but
hope to achieve it next year. (having visited the area many times between
1970-1974, but unfortunately and understandably no digital records).
