Hooghly, Begampur is also known for its
   cotton SARI <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Begampur,_India#Economics>.
   - It is the birthplace of world famous painter Late Gobardhan
Ash<http://www.saffronart.com/artist/artistprofile.aspx?artistid=1043>.
I have a few prints of his paintings on Bengal
famine<http://www.saffronart.com/sitepages/ArticleDetails.aspx?Articleid=269&PageNo=1>.
I also have the privilege of knowing his son Dr. Nirban Ash, also a

   - And if i do not mistake champion powerlifter Ms Sumita
Laha<http://www.gujarat4u.com/wrp5.htm>also comes from nearby place.
