*GLASS Lily pictures made me go down the memory lane and this is what came up...*
Your macro shots are so superb that the name glass lily seems very apt.., Dinesh... Glass lily is such an apt name for this ...reminds me of the translucent life like specimen in glass at two sites: the Corning museum in Corning NY and at the Harvard Museum of Natural history, in Boston Mass .... where the glass specimen flame worked and/or mouth blown by Blaschka father and son pair are on permanent exhibit... they look so very real... they look so real... Botanists going to USA may wish to visit at least one of them... a true pilgrimage.. Back to your specimen.. wonder who called them glass lily... may be some body who had seen these specimen in USA ? the URLs for the two glass flowers exhibits are: 1: http://www.hmnh.harvard.edu/on_exhibit.html here just scroll over to where it says glass flowers... 2: http://www.cmog.org/collection/exhibitions/botanical-wonders and a wonderful 7 min video of the history of this magical collection and their makes... http://www.cmog.org/collection/exhibitions/botanical-wonders enjoy ... i do whenever I chance upon it ... now I am not doing anybody a favor really this is for myself as much as for anybody else... writing it here makes it available to all ... including to me and mine ...
