Dear Garg JI, Kindly forward this to eFloraIndia group. Thanks and Regards, Vijay -------------------------- Dear Friends, It has been long time since we ButterflyIndia community are all together and have been sharing and learning from each other through our Yahoo group [ http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/ButterflyIndia/] We have close to 1500 members and are nearing 26000 message mark. Many people ask us In this era of Facebook do we need Yahoo group which are email based and slow in response because they are moderated. For some reason I still enjoy them and I am sure many you feel the same and that is the reason you are reading this email. :) What I think now is we need to bring in more focus to generating some quality biodiversity records through our group rather than merely sharing some photos and comments on those here or on Facebook groups. I know many of you have already started doing that in your own ways. I can see Bangalore group is already posting some well formed and interesting reports. Some of the members are also sharing on Flickr, Picasa, iNaturalist, Western Ghats Portal, INW, Indian Biodiversity Portal, Project Noah etc. We also have Wikipedia, Ifoundbutterflies and Flutters contributed by members of our group. I am also very happy to see special mention of our group in acknowledgements of several books of Butterflies. And we can proudly say that we have maximum number of authors of books on Indian Butterflies part of our group. We also have research articles published regularly by members of our group in collaborations with each other, many of them were introduced to each other through the group. I believe this is big contributions that we have made to science. But let us take this further. And for that let us work together on more serious data collection projects. Let us hear suggestions on this from all group members and a lot of discussions and action on those lines in coming years starting from now. Would really like to see how members are collecting data and what more we can do as a group. Eagerly waiting to hear form you all.
