Surajit: thanks for correcting me I meant Kaas phul/ghass..... and mistakenly typed Kuus ghas... there were large stands Kaas phul all over the eastern calcutta wetlands, by the pricep ghat along the ganges and on the way to the airport.. but new roads, beautification???, and thousands of apartment complexes with their artifical looking plantings have taken a toll ... Kaas phul is one such... In Calcutta proper no stands are to be seen, I saw one coming up near Princep ghat and before it flowered highway beautification folks beautified the little island of green inder the ramp that goes to the new bridge...
Kuus ghas grows abundantly by the ponds in shibpur botanical garden ... I had found many stands a couple of years ago by the roadside side of Prain lake in area 22 on the colorful map I had sent you a while back... not far from the bot gaachh.. and area 19 ...
