Dear Indian Flora Lovers, I am greatly confused with Impatiens bicolor Royle (=I. amphorata Edgew.)… The species comes from western and central Himalaya, aacording to some sources from NE Afghanistan, N Pakistan to Nepal. Original illustration of I. bicolor Royle depicts plant with bicolored, yellow and rosa flowers http://www.botanicus.org/item/31753002075122Also Flora of Pakistan depicts bicolored, yellow-rosa flowers http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=5&taxon_id=250071523 The same form is rare in cultivation in Europe (see photo on second page) http://paulshirleysucculents.wordpress.com/category/impatiens/ Plants with bicolored, yellow-rosa flowers were recently found in Portland, Oregon, USA http://www.clallam.net/WeedControl/assets/applets/Noxious_Weed_Triage.pdf However, on webpage Flowers of India flowers have no yellow color at all http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Amphora%20Balsam.html One of these photos is very similar to photo described as I. pseudobicolor in Mr. Impatiens website http://www.mrimpatiens.com/scripts/gallery.php?gallery=species&image=Impatiens pseudobicolor cedric basset.jpg Impatiens amphorata from Mr. Impatiens webpage – here also no yellow color http://www.mrimpatiens.com/scripts/gallery.php?gallery=species&image=Impatiens amphorata.jpg Compare these pictures with I. devendrae http://www.flowersofindia.net/catalog/slides/Devendra's%20Balsam.html http://tai2.ntu.edu.tw/taiwania/pdf/tai.2010.55.1.13.pdf Almost identical shape of flower, even some orange/reddish markings on lateral petals. Only difference seems to be color, in the case of I. bicolor sensu Flowers of India less or more rosa/pink. Any opinions? There is also synonym (I. bicolor sensu De Wild) but this is African species, I. congolensis or group of species comprising I. niamniamensis, I. congolensis and I. densifolia (as far as I understand).
