And Karunakar, whatever happened to your sense of adhering to standards? 

We have been doing without the Rs. symbol in a font till now. 

What is the hurry? The unicode has commenced the process of including
it in the standards.

It may be easy to remap the symbol within the font file, but what will
you do with the data generated with these font?

Somebody is using the PUA, somebody is using the Rs. value, somebody
else is using the code point assigned for the ` sign. 

Nice. Thank you all for your chest thumping patriotism. 

Please spare a  dime / shilling / penny  for standards in the data. 

We do not want a sign for the paisa sign, do we? Why is nobody complaining?
