Anda menggunkan Oracle 8i versi berapa? karena memang tidak semua versi 8i

Oracle Instant Client 10g
Oracle Net Services - Version: 10.1.0.2 Symptoms Connecting to Oracle
8.1.7.0.x, 8.1.7.1.x, 8.1.7.2.x, 8.1.7.3.x, or any older databases fail with
error:
ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported
Connecting to Oracle 8.1.7.4.x database works. Changes This is a new
installation of Oracle Instant Client. Cause Oracle Net Services 10.1.0.2
only supports terminal release of 8.1.7 database.
Encountering the following bug:
Bug:3437884 10G REL5: CANNOT CONNECT TO 8.1.7.3.0 -- GET ORA-3134 ERROR
Solution There are 2 options:
1. Upgrade database to a minimum of 8.1.7.4.x.
2. Upgrade Instant Client to 10.1.0.3 or higher, since Bug 3437884 has
been fixed in patch set 10.1.0.3.
