Be careful, mate.
You are confusing "another version of history" with "alternate history".

Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code is 'alternate history'.

A version of history is history that went down according to the point
of view of the people living it. 

Alternate history is a history that is supposed to go down, seen
through the eyes of idealists, story tellers, or anyone who don't
actually living the history themselves. In other word, a fiction.
