But, technically speaking, this can be done only in torpedo launcher such as Galaxy class or higher, where you can lauch 10 torpedoes simultenously. The launcher is electro magnetic hence the torpedoes sit on the laucher (in 10 batch) and can be fire altogether one after another. But we can't do that to Defiant class, as the torpedoes are carried in 2 pre-loaded batch (10 each) on each side of Defiant, technically speaking, in this class of ship, the torpedoes are not needed to be loaded manually, just adding the matter/antimatter yield and it is ready to go. But if we examine the laucher in earlier ships, the torpedo launcher is similar to current Earth submarine launcher, where the torpedo fit almost flush to the launcher, so can't add anything outside the casing.
