In medicine, sci-fi affects almost evey aspects of medical diagnosis & treatment. Nowadays, we can perform surgery without making any skin incisions. The technology is called NOTES (natural orificium trans endoscopic surgery). I believe it came from one of StarTrek episodes. Also, a new device called endoluminal capsule has been invented and used. The capsule is delivered into the bowel through normal oral route (digested) and during passage in the bowel lumen, it can transmit videographic information that we can observe on our screen and monitor every part of the bowel to find any diseases. You might remember one sci-fi movie which there was a group of people being shrunked & travelling thru human body. So it was once sci-fi movie, now it was real.
