Setahu saya, shield adalah energi yang menahan energi pula. Massa dalam volume tertentu masih bisa ditolak oleh shield ini. Tetapi jika massa nya besar, tidak bisa. Photon torpedo karena dia massa sekaligus energi tertahan oleh shield dengan ada reaksi destruktif untuk shieldnya, massa pesawatnya dll, bukan tidak ada pengaruh. Waktu 1701 E menabrak Scimitar, shieldnya Scimitar juga masih ada, tapi massa sebesar E tidak akan tertahan oleh shieldnya Scimitar.
