perguruan silat baru di Bali yang memadukan silat tradisional Bali dan
bela diri manca negara yang di sebut Mempatigan. Pernah saya liput
untuk  National Geographic Indonesia. 

Secara visual silat mereka menarik sekali untuk di
foto. Kalau ada rekan-rekan yang berminat datang kontak saja langsung

CELEBRATING BALINESE CULTURE AND MARTIAL ARTS
Green School Hosts the 1st open Mepantigan Bali Championship

Sibang
Kaja, Bali,July 15 2008 – Green School and Bali Mepantigan Arts proudly
present the 1st Open Mepantigan Bali Championship. This historic event 
will be held at Green School's innovative and spectacular bamboo
coliseum in Sibang Kaja, Bali on Friday, August 15th and 16th ,2008.

Mepantigan is
a from of Balinese martial arts that involves techniques of throwing
and securing one's opponent that is found in self-defense traditions
around
the world. Mepantigan also includes Balinese drama, contemporary dance,
and Balinese gamelan music. Participants wear uniforms consisting of
bebuletan (sarong), kancut (sarong ornamental border), guladginting
(undergarment), and udeng (head-dress). These martial arts can be
performed on the beach, in the mud of rice fields, or in any open space.

Practitioners of Mepantigan gain physical fitness, release stress, and learn 
valuable lessons in
camaraderie and sportsmanship. In addition to gaining valuable skills
and agility, both emotional and spiritual intelligence is emphasized. 

According
to Putu Witsen Widjaya, the founder and senior teacher of Bali
Mepantigan Arts and a martial arts champion, students of Mepantigan
develop
important characteristics and avoid violence while cultivating
compassion. As he observed, "Wherever proper martial arts develop, evil
will diminish and a respect for others will grow. This is particularly
true for those who practice Mepantigan, which is a celebration of the spirit".

4:00 pm.:     Greetings by Founders and Director at Director's house. Welcome 
drinks      
                     Followed by school tour.
5:00 pm.:     Opening Ceremony at Mepantigan Centre. Introduction to Mepantigan 
Art 
                    by Putu Witsen Widjaya

5:10 pm.:     Offering to Dewi Sri (the Goddess of rice field)

5:25 pm.:     Si Bolang – The children from Pejeng Village will be performing a 
fighting 
                    Scene wiyh dry coconut leaves and shields or perang danyuh 
accompanied 
                    by traditional Balinese song.

5:35 pm.:     Demonstration of Mepantigan Martial Arts – Performances by young 
people 
                    Sibang Kaja Village lead by instructor, Wayan Sumertha, a 
teacher at 
                    International schools in Sanur, Nusa Dua, Canggu  and Green 
School.

5:45 pm.:     Mepantigan Championship:  1st Fight
6:00 pm.:     Kul-Kul performance,Warior Dance or Baris and Shadow Puppet or 
Wayang
6:15 pm.:     Mepantigan Championship:   2nd Fight
6:30 pm.:     Dinner

7:00 pm.:     Mepantigan Gedeblag-Gedeblug – performance consisting of the 
following:
                    *Traditional Balinese Tatto / Body Painting Orchestra
                    *Kecak Bamboo Fire Ball – fighting with dry coconut leaves 
and torch
                      (perang danyuh), fighting the fragrant pandanus 
leaves(perang pandan) ,
                      Fighting with bamboo (perang bamboo).
                    *Puppet and Dewi Sri poetry about the morality and 
conservation rice field 
                      in Bali.

at rice field
                    *Releasing gold fish for good bay
