Di Laos, terutama Vientiane sangat buanyaaaakk guesthouse, terutama di blok-blok di pinggir sungai Mekong. Orang Lao bilang daerah itu Ban Falang, artinya kampung turis. karena memang daerah konsetrasi para backpacker menginap. harga guesthouse rata2 sama USD 20 dengan fasilitas AC, kamar mandi air panas, TV kabel & breakfast. Itu harga tahun 2007 waktu saya tinggal di sana.
situasi laos sangat aman sewaktu saya tinggal di sana. apalagi vientiane, sudah sangat mafhum dengan keberadaan turis. atmosfer vientiane sepanjang tahun memang seperti kota wisata meskipun ia adalah ibukota pusat pemerintahan. Bbrp tempat yg asik dikunjungi di sekitar vientiane misalnya monument phatouxay. datangilah waktu malam hari, mulai jam 6-8 air mancur akan bergerak-gerak seperti menari mengikuti suara musik. tempat yg sangat asik untuk jogging maupun sekedar nongkrong2. Vang Vieng wajib dikunjungi sambil menempuh perjalanan ke Luang Prabang di utara. Di sini atmosfer outdoor tourism-nya sangat kental. bisa coba rock climbing, tubing, cycling, dan satu yg pasti ga ada di tempat lain, lompat sungai dari ketinggian 4 meter. Mini-Van for tourists (non local) could be ordered anywhere, while the public's transport such as bus and boat are widely acceptable. Loaung Phabang was more organised and embraced tourism. Although the road were unpaved but facilities such as guesthouses, hotels, restauranst, and travel agents were easy to find. In here also you could arrange visas to any neighboring countries like China, Myanmar, Vietnam. The prices summarized below were based on high season (December). If you travel in low season so assume that you will spend 60% of the rate. If you travel alone the price just slightly the the same as you were travel in low season. 1.
