Hello there everybody Myself and another expat English friend, Andy Dean, are currently putting the finishing touches to a new hiking website which aims to eventually be the best English-language source for information on hiking/climbing the many mountains/volcanoes across the Indonesian archipelago. We've listed every peak with 1000metre prominence and plenty more which are smaller but are so interesting they simply could not be left out.
To an extent, the initial success of the site will rely on comments and photos/route descriptions from readers but we also hope that it will be of use to travellers planning hiking trips in Indonesia. Here it is.... www.gunungbagging.com We encourage people to post comments and would be delighted for reader photo submissions etc etc. Also, anyone who has climbed (to the very highest point!) of more than 20 Ribus can go on the Hall of Fame page (if you want). We hope you all find the website interesting. Perhaps one day we will make a version entirely in Bahasa Indonesia. We will be having a website launch in Kemang on Sat 12th December.
