PURPOSE:
To ensure PMI are provided with the support needed
to pilot and roll out the of BRCS Livelihoods
projects, including providing technical & practical
inputs to the design, implementation and monitoring
of the program in Tsunami-affected communities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Support the senior technical assistant, project
manager and PMI utilise existing and on-going
assessment information to design, plan, implement
and monitor rapid interventions that promote
sustainable livelihoods.
2. Assist in the development of clear and costed
project/programme proposal documents.
3. Assist in the expansion of the BRCS pilot
livelihood programme into other areas of Banda Aceh
province.
4. Coordinate ongoing assessment and monitoring of the
vulnerabilities and capacities of the affected
population, providing baselines for future monitoring
& evaluation and to inform programme
adaptation.
5. Ensure maximum participation in, and ownership
of, the affected population and local government in
the reconstruction process
6. Work with and train PMI volunteers and staff and
other relevant stakeholders so that they are able to
implement each and every stage and aspect of the
project.
7. Ensure clear information about the project is
available for the affected population in various
forms and that their feedback about the project is
actively sought and acted upon (as prioritised
within BRCS International Strategy).
8. Provide technical inputs to the design and
implementation of the project around participation,
livelihood approaches and other areas as appropriate
- accessing other sources of technical knowledge
when necessary.
9. Identify, plan and provide training for PMI
volunteers and branch staff based on field
observation to strengthen their capacities in all
relevant areas, utilising current best practice.
10. Report weekly on all livelihood Program
activities to the senior technical advisor and
project manager.
DUTIES APPLICABLE TO ALL STAFF
11. Ensure project activities are coherent within PMI
operational strategies and priorities, and
compliant with the Red Cross Code of Conduct and
BRCS policies (such as equal opportunities, child
protection)
12. To uphold the Fundamental Principles of the Red
Cross/Crescent Movement.
13. Document project methods and approaches to
facilitate possible replication, and to inform
strategy and organisational learning (PMI, BRCS, Red
Cross/Crescent Movement and other organisations)
14. Liaise with other agencies, and particularly
PMI, the Federation and ICRC, to ensure consistency
in approaches and to seek opportunities for
beneficial collaboration / cooperation.
15. Undertake other duties as requested by the
project manager.
