growing world population coupled with increasing spending power in

regions, German agriculture minister Horst Seehofer told a press

minister Sigmar Gabriel told a separate press conference that poor
harvests, rising spending
power and growing financial investment in commodities was a major
reason for rising food
prices but not biofuel output. Seehofer said the United Nations'

estimated that only 2% of global farmland was used for biofuel crops.

Sementara menurut WFO (World Food Programme) Indonesia belum jadi
pasien negara yang rakyatnya kelaparan. Tapi ndhak tahu nanti, (ada
yang bilang bulan depan), setelah BBM jadi naek, dan listrik ikutan
membonceng lebih mahal lagi.

Rekans,
Salah satu dari diskusi semalam dengan Mas Basuki, Takdir, Harlizon,
Setiarso (semuanya ITB) dan Mas Indra Adil dari IPB ada beberapa
catatan yang perlu dibahas disini bahwa :
1. Shorgun, merupakan bahan bakar nabati yang bisa digunakan sebagai
BioEthanol.
2. Ternyata yang produktifitasnya cukup tinggi adalah jarak jatropha
risinus bukan jarak jatropha Curcas seperti yang selama ini digencarkan. :-(
3. Algae dengan species khusus dari Indonesia telah berhasil
dibudidayakan di Indonesia, hanya saja yang masih diperlukan segera
adalah teknologi yang merubah minyak algae
menjadi biodiesel.
4. Ketela Mukibat yang tidak bisa dimakan karena beracun, sebagai
bahan baku minyak nabati Bioethanol.
Tolong Rekans yang mempunyai pengetahuan dan kompetensi lebih jauh
tentang keempat hal diatas agar bisa memberikan share pendapatnya disini.
Begitu juga, tolong yang punya hubungan dengan IPB, UGM, UI termasuk
Mas Inung, agar bisa dihubungkan dengan milist IA IPB, IA UGM dan IA
UI supaya bisa sinergikan antara ITB, IPB, UGM dan UI dalam bidang
bidang yang memerlukan kompetensi masing masing.
