Around 500 activists marched to the city's stock exchange, after police cleared tents and shelters from Zucotti Park on Tuesday. Scuffles have broken out between demonstrators and police, who barricaded the narrow streets around the financial centre and used batons to push the marchers onto the pavement. Demonstrators lay down in the road as they attempted to stop workers getting to their desks. Sky's Hannah Thomas Peter, at the protest, said: "The protesters wanted to march for the two month anniversary this morning and they gathered in large numbers to come towards this area. "But as they arrived they were funnelled towards the side streets by the police. "It was fairly good-natured to begin with but then some protesters sat down on the floor...and the police then viewed that as their moment to move in and start arresting them by zip-tying them." She added that the crowd of protesters was growing, along with the number of police. The park had been the movement's base since September, and housed hundreds of protesters. Protesters say they are upset that billions of dollars in bailouts given to banks during the recession allowed a return to huge profits while average Americans have had no relief from high unemployment and a struggling economy. *They also believe the richest 1% of Americans do not pay their fair share of taxes.* **
