RESEARCH SCIENTIST (Machine Learning) Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) Solutions Siemens Medical Systems, Malvern, PA The Computer-Aided Diagnosis & Therapy Solutions Group, Siemens Medical Solutions, USA, has multiple immediate and ongoing open positions for Research Scientists (senior and entry level). In this position, you will be conducting leading-edge research in classification of patients from medical patient data, as well as inference/reasoning from incomplete and structured data, automatically extracting patterns from large amounts of numeric and symbolic data, combine imaging, clinical, and textual information, and other related areas. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in CS/EE/Statistics/Applied Math or an engineering discipline with an inter-disciplinary background in machine learning and/or statistics, with a proven record in research, innovative thinking, real world problem solving, and fast prototyping. Candidates must have significant research background in Classification and/or Probabilistic inference. Primary areas of interest include all classification methods from machine learning and statistics, probabilistic inference, Bayesian methods, temporal reasoning & inference, and/or neural networks. Additional areas of interest include feature extraction, data mining, predictive modeling, model-based reasoning, pattern recognition, text mining, information retrieval, image processing, time-series analysis and forecasting. A medical background (e.g., MD+PhD) is a plus, but not required. (Note: To be considered for the position, you *must* have a Ph.D., or be graduating fairly soon with a Ph.D. -- by summer 2003.)
