Call for participation
Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO)
 12-16 July 2003 (Saturday-Wednesday), Chicago, Illinois

 www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003

I am happy to invite you again to attend and submit your best work for
publication at the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference
 (GECCO-2003) from 12-16 July (Saturday--Wednesday) in Chicago
Illinois. Since my last invitation, we have added two new tracks,
finalized our workshop schedule (see below), and I am very happy to
announce that our first plenary session speaker will be John Holland.

The deadline for manuscript submission is 22 January. We have
introduced two new tracks, on Coevolution (Coev) and Artificial Immune
Systems (AIS), and have expanded the track on DNA and molecular
computing to include quantum computing (DMQ). See
www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003 for a complete list of program tracks.

Paper submission details are at: www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003/submitting.html

Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO-2003) will
present the latest high-quality results selected by rigorous blind
reviews from a distinguished program committee. There will be three
days of technical sessions with papers from 13 different program
tracks, two invited speakers, 32 tutorials by internationally
acclaimed experts, and a poster session. There will be 13 workshops on
special interest topics (see below for list), including a Graduate
Student workshop, and Undergraduate Student Workshop, Late Breaking
Papers, Evolutionary Computation in Industry, the International
Workshop on Learning Classifier Systems, and more. All this is
included for a single registration fee. Participants will receive
proceedings in print and on CD. All papers and posters are rigorously
reviewed by independent program committees of specialists.

A significant number of student travel and housing grants are
available for student participants (332 in 2002).

To Submit a Paper: papers should be submitted electronically to AAAI
by 22 January. Details on formatting and submission are available in
 the conference website: www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003

Free Tutorials: GECCO will host 32 tutorials, free of charge for to
participants, on a wide range of topics, presented by top experts from
around the world. See the end of this email for a list of tutorials,
 or see www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003/free-tutorials.html

Free Workshops: GECCO will host 13 workshops, free of charge for to
participants, on a wide variety of topics of interest to academics,
students, and users of evolutionary computation. This will include a
special Graduate Student Workshop, a workshop on Evolutionary
Computation in Industry, the International Workshop on Learning
Classifier Systems, and a host of others. See the end of this email
for a list of workshops or see www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003/workshops

About Chicago: The conference will be held in downtown Chicago, with
nearby student housing available at significantly reduced rates. The
venue will be readily accessible to both O'Hare and Midway
international airports by inexpensive, safe, public transportation, as
well as shuttles and taxi services. O'Hare is a major international
airport served by many carriers, and Midway is a particularly
attractive for flights from the northeastern US. There are several
Chicago attractions nearby, including museums, music, theater,
shopping, Lake Michigan, and Grant Park. There will be ready access to
dining for every budget and taste.

Additional Information: For further information, please visit
www.isgec.org/GECCO-2003. This conference is administered by the
American Association for Artificial Intelligence, 445 Burgess Drive,
Menlo Park, CA 94025 USA. Phone: 650-328-3123. Fax: 650-321-4457. It
is operated by the International Society for Genetic and Evolutionary
 Computation, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation.
