KDD is the premiere event for the data mining community, bringing together leading researchers from academia and industry. Panels offer an interactive forum that engages panelists and the audience in lively discussion of important and often controversial issues. Panels should be lively, interactive, informative and relevant. Panels should not be a set of independent talks. The panel chair should facilitate discussion. For example, the chair may challenge panelists with questions after short opening statements. Panel proposals should include: -- Summary of the panel topic -- Name, affiliation, and contact information for the panel chair -- Names and affiliations of up to four panelists (in addition to the panel chair) who have made a commitment to participate -- Brief biography of each participant A mix of industry and academic panel members is encouraged. Panel proposals should be submitted electronically in ASCII format to the Panels Chair, Raghu Ramakrishnan, at raghu [at] cs.wisc.edu
