Special Session Theme:
Classifier ensemble methods, also called multiple classifier systems, is
one of the current hot topics in data mining and pattern recognition.
There is an increasing awareness that many of the most important
application areas for this technology involve extreme environments. An
application might be extreme because of the:
-- large number of elements in the data set
-- high dimensionality of the data
-- attribute or label error in the training data
-- extreme skew in class distribution of the data
-- time-varying nature of the class distributions
-- or some combination of these factors.
The purpose of the special session is to bring together researchers who
are focused on developing ensemble methods that work well in extreme
application environments. It is expected that researchers will present
results on experimental datasets that exhibit one or more of the
properties of an extreme environment.

Submission:
Submissions should be sent electronically (pdf formant preferred) by March
1 2005 to:
Dr. Nitesh Chawla, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
The paper must also be submitted through the conference web submission
process. Submissions should be five to eight pages in length, in
conference paper format. Details of the paper format will be available at
the conference web site: http://ieeesmc2005.unm.edu/. Papers that are
longer than six pages will be subject to a page fee for the extra pages (2
max). Timetable for special session submissions is listed under Technical
Program on the conference web site.
