Yes I think that would work, assuming we start releasing at least some alpha of 5.3 quickly?
Otherwise I'd prefer it as an experimental feature in 5.2: the reason is we have other work to move forward which needs a tagged version of the MongoDB Cachestore; there are some volunteers stalled waiting on this so I'm afraid that delaying it too much will turn them off.
