Hi folks,

I recently secured my Memcached instance using its built-in SASL
authentication, but the Telegraf input plugin stopped working. A quick look at
the plugin shows that it does not support SASL, and was not written to leverage
an existing Memcached client library that does. (I see couchbase/gomemcached in
Godeps, but it doesn't appear to be used anywhere.)

Is there a reason why an existing client library wasn't used originally? Am I
free to rewrite this input plugin to use one? Does it have to be
couchbase/gomemcached or am I free to choose another library (ideally one with
better documentation)? This will be my first foray with Go so I'll likely be
looking for assistance.

Thanks in advance for your guidance,

Mike
