InfluxDB 0.8 is not compatible with Telegraf in any way. You must be using equivalent versions to guarantee compatibility. With Telegraf 0.13, use InfluxDB 0.13.
InfluxDB 0.8 is deprecated and has a different API, data structure, and query language.
