You are summing them. Series cardinality is per-InfluxDB instance. Whether
you have 10 databases with 100 series each or 1000 series in a single
database, that's still a series cardinality of 1000 for the system. The RAM
needs are per system, not per database.

The cardinality is not purely multiplicative. Dependent tags don't add to
cardinality. See
