Yes, replaying the data is the only way in InfluxDB 0.9. With InfluxDB 0.12, I believe, we re-introduced the INTO clause, which allows for direct re-writing from one RP to another.
I don't have an easy list of the 0.9.2 to 0.9.6 breaking changes, my apologies.
