There is no way to GROUP BY a field. You could issue separate queries to generate the results:
SELECT SUM(foo) FROM metrics WHERE pid=1 SELECT SUM(foo) FROM metrics WHERE pid=2 SELECT SUM(foo) FROM metrics WHERE pid=3 ...
