I'm looking to add InfluxDB to a server monitoring application to keep historical data. We have thousands of servers, each with hundreds of metrics.
Each metric has a Name, Property, Identifier and Value. For example, disk usage would be stored as Name: Disk, Property: FreeSpace, Identifier: C, Value: 1828818944. Can anyone recommend a way of storing this? Should I use one DB per server? Should I store multiple servers in a DB and shard it out? For the metrics, should I use tags for Server ID, Name, Property, Identifier? Any input would be appreciated.
