John,

On solaris systems, you can view all currently loaded kernel modules
by typing "modinfo". To find out if afs is loaded, type:

        modinfo | grep afs

I hoped I've understood your question correctly. I have no idea whether
or not a modinfo command or equivalent exists on the AIX operating system.
