Dear advisor...
I have a question on moving volumes between two cells. We have
two cells now, one is old test cell and the other is new cell with brand
new servers. Test cell has some (200+) users and (300+) volumes. The old
cell will be removed after the complete migration.
Now we're about to migrate the old databases and volumes to the
new cell. What I'm trying to find out is how to move the databases and
volumes without great pains. Do I need to rebuild databases or can I just
copy the contents of /usr/afs/local/db and /usr/afs/local/etc ? And can
I just transfer the volumes of /vicep* in binary format to the new cell
and 'sync' them ? Any comments will be welcomed.
PS : The old servers are running on AFS 3.4b on HP-UX and the new
servers will be running on AFS 3.4a on Digital UNIX.
Sincerely,
Jay Kim
