We have the same problem and reported it to Transarc. In fact, 'init 6' or
whatever you call your 'reboot' command hangs for the same reason, and *that*
is sometimes much harder to recover from. 

Transarc's only comment up to now was that they couldn't reproduce the
problem, which from my own (admittedly microscopic) perspective sounds odd.
It happens *consistently* on all our 3.4a Solarises, as well as to a few
other people I have talked to and I am very happy that it happens to you as
well. 

One remark though: last night I dared saying '/usr/vice/etc/afsd -shutdown'
on my station. The command itself got stuck, but from another (already open!)
root window 'init 0' worked this time! I wonder what happens if one plugs
this intelligently into K66afs...
