We have been having peculiar problems with some of the machines that are
using an AFS translator machine to get access to AFS space.
What happens is that files which are created on machines mounting
AFS from a translator seem to get corrupted when they are accessed
on a different machine. This usually happens if you try accessing the
file soon after it has been created. We have been trying to test different
configurations and different machines without much luck. Then we noticed
that in the syslog file on the translator machine there are LOTS of
error 13 messages from afs.
Feb 7 22:57:16 2A:valhalla unix: afs: failed to store file in volume 605588982
(error 13)
Has anybody else been seeing this problem? I have looked over the previous
posts on error 13 and they didn't give any explanations of why they were
occuring or any possible solutions to them.
The machines we are mounting afs on are IRIX 5.3 and IRIX 6.1 multi-processor
machines. The translator machine is running IRIX 5.3 with the latest version
of afs on it (3.4a).
