I'm interested in running some performance tests on the environment here to help make judgements on future directions. We've got both NFS and DFS. The andrew benchmark is apparently a set of tests aimed at simulating and measuring "real" filesystem use. Apparently this is the reference to the original work. Is it (the benchmark code) available online somewhere? How about the paper? J.H. Howard, M.L. Kazar, S.G. Menees, D.A. Nichols, M. Satyanarayanan, R.N. Sidebotham, and M.J. West, "Scale and Performance in a Distributed File System," ACM Transactions on Computer Systems, Vol. 6(1) (February, 1988). Are there other test suites that are popular for this sort of measurement? (and where can I get them?)
