How are sites which run AFS file servers on operating systems which provide
a logical volume layer above the raw disk partitions (like AIX) configuring
your partitions? What are the tradeoffs between the number of partitions on
each fileserver and the size of each partition?

We have two RS/6000 fileservers which are attached to a RAID array. We'll be
creating a large number of small user volumes and would like to minimize the
time it takes the fileservers to make volumes available when the system comes
up. We're running AFS 3.4a under AIX 4.1.4.

Any advice or insight is appreciated.
