Depending on your budget and the amount of data you wish to back up,
a jukebox and Legato Networker might be a reasonable option. BoxHill
(http://www.boxhill.com/) has released a Networker plugin that captures
AFS volumes to tape, and allows one to use the Networker data management
utilties and clients to automate and schedule the backups, as well as
restore the data.

I haven't seen the AFS product (we're just getting AFS in as soon as
the Solaris 2.5 build is ready at the end of the month), but so far we're
pretty happy with Networker.

Details on the product are available at

  http://www.boxhill.com/news/vosasm.html

I'd appreciate word of any experiences with the product, good or bad,
since we're considering its use.
