Greetings,

As we posted recently to AFS site contacts, the Linux AFS port is now
available to our International customers. In order to receive access
to the port, the site must first sign and return a Letter of Assurance.
The Letter of Assurance is a form letter that states that the end-user will
not transfer the software to countries/parties with which the US government
has restricted trade to. Because of this government requirement on
exporting the port, we will only be adding the official site contacts to
the distribution list. They will be responsible for contacting Transarc
and picking up the port. The site contact can contact their AFS account
exec (or myself) to obtain a copy of the Letter of Assurance for
signature.

Derek Atkins, the person at MIT who did the Linux port, suggested that I
post information on the mailing lists which he has set up at MIT for
discussion and bug reporting on Linux-AFS. The first list is
[EMAIL PROTECTED], which is the main discussion and announcement list.
It is open to the public; requests for subscription should be sent to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] The other list is a bug reporting list,
[EMAIL PROTECTED], which is used to report real bugs in the
Linux-AFS port. All real bug reports should be directed to the bug
mailing list. Again, [EMAIL PROTECTED] is the subscription
list.

Our thanks to Derek for all of the work he did to develop this port for the
AFS community.

Regards,

Carolyn Dietrich
