We've been using DLT stackers for a while now. They've been working quite
well for us. We have some software that was developed in-house to run
tape jukeboxes (it supports exabyte and DLT robots, basically) and we use
it in conjunction with the tape-loading callouts in AFS 3.4 to load the
tapes. This has been working really well modulo the problems you always
have with things like getting butc running and keeping it running, etc.
None of this is particularly elegant, but we do get to load a week worth
of incremental backups in a stacker at a time. We've been using
DLT2700's, but we just got a 4700 this week. Unfortunately, no tapes for
it yet. But soon.
