If your web browser is running AFS-authenticated, you can access AFS
files via "file:" URLs instead of "http:" URLs.  A few years back, the
Research group at Transarc implemented a general mechanism to make
Mosaic automatically translate "http:" URLs into "file:" URLs.  See
