Hi -

I would like to report that SUN has just released a patch to the
fsflush daemon for all Solaris 2.5 systems.

>From the Sun bug report - Bug 1251421:

Files may be corrupted after a power failure or other non-synced
shutdown on sun4m or sun4d architecture. fsflush() was not dumping
out dirty pages due to an early page initialization problem.

Sun made a patch available as of 8/14. The patch number is
103093-05. It looks like Sun has put this version of the patch in the
recommended cluster for Solaris 2.5, which should mean that it is
available for all customers to download from the publicly available
Sun web site pages.

A few of our AFS customers have reported cache problems on their
sun4x_55 machines. You may have noticed this via a

        no such device

error when trying to cd into a volume mountpoint. Our analysis of the
problem also pointed to the AFS Vfiles in /usr/vice/cache not being
properly synced to disk.

We strongly recommend installing this patch on your Solaris 2.5
systems.

Thanks.
