When you upgrade your AFS database servers to the 5.00 release, be aware that
if an 'ifconfig -a' or it's equivalent shows more than 1 interface you are
seriously hosed. Even if the interface is not configured, AFS thinks that it
is being used, and makes itself multihomed.

I had sunos 4.1.3 machines with a fddi card in them for database servers. The
le0 port was totally unused, and had no ifconfig commands run on it, but it
still shows up as being part of the machine (built into the kernel), so AFS
basically shut down. Every command which went to AFS took about 20 minutes
to complete.

Once I took out the fddi card and just used the ethernet port things
immediately returned to normal response times.

This isn't an issue with Solaris. It doesn't use the le0 at all if you don't
ifconfig it, and I don't think it's an issue with AIX either, but I wanted
to warn everyone about this.
