Problems with afsd

Hi,
 I have problem with HP workstation running as afs clients.
The HP machine went into kernel panic(reboot required) mode and it was
believed caused by afsd.
 Another problem is afsd sending out clock messages which messed up the
display on workstations' monitors.

Anybody has any clues?
