The Microsoft RPCs are based on the DCE RPC specs. And they can
interoperate. There is an O'Reilly box on this! (Someone walke off
with my copy, so I don't have the title or Auther.)
What is missing is the secure RPC, i.e. Kerberos 5 part. I hear that
Microsoft may be writing this from scratch as well, and it may be part
of the Alpha release of NT 5.0.
See: http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/reading/bst17020.htm for some
interesing reading on Microsoft and DCE.
