We are setting up a HP D250 (800 series) machine running HPUX 10.10 as an AFS
file server. We had the file server process running and had moved a couple
volumes onto a couple of the vicepX partitions. We brought the machine down
to install a FDDI card. After the machine was booted up and we ran a
"vos listvol <machine>" it reported that it could not attach the volumes.
We ran a salvage and got the following message for every partition:

10/08/96 17:06:50 There's something wrong with the superblock for partition
/vic
epa; bad magic (86186388) run vfsck
Unable to get inodes for "c1t0d0"; not salvaged

Then when we run fsck (Transarc's) we just get:

----Transarc AFS (R) 3.4 fsck----
** /dev/dsk/c1t0d0
BAD SUPER BLOCK: MAGIC NUMBER WRONG

Running HP's fsck will work fine. Has anybody else run into this problem?
I have a defect # from Transarc on this problem, I was just wondering if
there are any other sites that are (successfully) using HP 800 machines
running HPUX 10.10 as file servers?

Thanks.
