I have a few of questions for people who are using HP file server
machines. We primarily use Suns running SunOS or Solaris but are
moving to HP servers (I'm not convinced that this was the best idea).
What version of HPUX are you using? (We are using 10.10 and are going to
upgrade to 10.20 before they go into production.)
Are you using the Logical Volume Manager (LVM) for the vice partitions?
I have found that just doing a simple "vos partinfo" on a file server with
vice partitions using the LVM takes quite a bit longer than a similar setup
on a Solaris machine.
What kind of performance hit does a file server take when it uses the LVM?
Is there a way to split up disk into partitions without using the LVM?
(On Sun's there is the format utility)
Thanks.
