Thanks.  Compiling with cc (rather than gcc) seems to have done the trick.
Could _swear_ I'd tried that yesterday.

I've now made setcells 1.0.3 successfully on AIX 3.2.5 (use cc), AIX 4.2.1,
DU 3.2G (use cc for clean compile), and DU 4.0B.
